How I got my girls to sleep 12 hours through the night by 4 months old!
Being a mother of twin girls, Ava and Aya, I understand the challenges of getting a good night's sleep. Determined to find a solution, I embarked on a journey to sleep train my babies, allowing them to sleep a full 12 hours through the night by the time they were 4 months old. My preparation started while I was pregnant, and I was obsessively watching other twin mothers online going through the journey ahead. I dreaded the sleep deprivation that certainly smacked me in the face the second our premature girls arrived!
In my new Ebook, 'Gentle Sleep Training Success,' I share my method that doesn't involve abandoning my children to cry until exhaustion. Instead, I emphasize the importance of various routines and starting the sleep training process early. This is my own personal approach I took after reading various books, medical studies and listening to various audio books and podcasts.
Sleep training is crucial for both babies and parents. It helps establish healthy sleep habits, promotes better sleep quality, and ensures that everyone in the family gets the rest they need. By teaching babies to self-soothe and sleep independently, parents can enjoy more uninterrupted sleep and have more energy to care for their little ones during the day. It's essential to consider the risks of sleep deprivation and how this can impact your ability to be the best parent you can be.
Starting from birth
My sleep training journey began right from the moment my twin girls were born. I established a consistent bedtime routine, including a warm bath at the same time everyday to help our twins understand it was time to wind down. I also established a feeding schedule to help them consume sufficient food during the day to sleep at night. By following a predictable routine, my babies learned to associate these activities with sleep, making it easier for them to settle down at night.
The importance of schedules
I believe that twin mothers are often encouraged to put their babies on schedules, while singleton mothers are made to feel guilty for doing the same. This discrepancy is unfair, and I want to empower all mothers to follow their instincts and establish schedules that work for their families. By setting a consistent sleep schedule for my twin girls, I was able to regulate their sleep patterns and ensure they were well-rested.
Gentle sleep training approach
My sleep training method is gentle and nurturing. By gradually teaching my girls to self-soothe, I helped them develop the skills to fall asleep independently and stay asleep throughout the night.
